Internet
One of the things that our volunteers worry about is whether or not we have internet at Baan San Fan. Well, we do, and its actually quite fast, too. It might not be sufficient for you to watch streamed episodes of your favourite soap opera, but, we use it for Skype and even Facetime.
The volunteer's bungalow now also has wi-fi and a new-ish state-of-the-art (for Thailand) computer suite so that you can keep up-to-date with current affairs or just keep an eye on the Lady Gaga fan site.
We also have a printer so you'll always be able to print off your plane tickets or instructions on how to build a pig pen with just a machete, three nails, some strips of rubber and a bail of string (ask Sam, he'll know).
Now, all you have to do is work out how to get the older kids away from their Facebook pages (yep, its everywhere).
TV
Thai TV seems to be based largely on slapstick which is handy because it means you can actually understand it if you are not from Thailand. That said, it does get a bit tedious after a while so the volunteers have donated a TV and a satellite receiver. Now you can watch CNN, BBC world and TV5 to your heart's content.
If you are a football fan (unlikely) you can also watch 'soccer' from most countries, as well as a mixture of other sports from around the globe.
To be honest, its mainly used by the kids to watch cartoon network! Other highlights include Panda TV (not to be missed) which is 24 hour coverage of a panda in a cage.
The kids also have a selection of DVDs, so now you can watch Ben 10 in Thai. Just what you always wanted?
